Frequently Asked Questions
Common investor questions.
Who can invest with Apex Capital Partners?
Apex Capital Partners manages capital on behalf of accredited investors and qualified purchasers as defined under applicable US securities laws. This includes institutional investors (pension funds, endowments, family offices, registered investment advisers), high-net-worth individuals who meet the relevant income or net worth thresholds, and qualified intermediaries acting on their behalf. Investment eligibility is confirmed prior to the provision of any fund-specific information.
What is a life settlement investment?
A life settlement is the purchase of an existing life insurance policy from its original policyholder at a price above the policy’s cash surrender value. The purchaser assumes ongoing premium obligations and receives the contractual death benefit when the insured passes. For investors, the return is driven by the accuracy of life expectancy underwriting at acquisition and the discipline of premium management through to maturity. The asset class has near-zero correlation to public equity and fixed income markets.
How does Apex source and assess investment opportunities?
Apex sources opportunities across all four strategies through direct relationships maintained by the investment team — licensed brokers and Apex Settlement Group for life settlements; broker and direct channels for MCA; operator and broker networks for real estate; and medical-legal intermediaries for healthcare receivables. All origination is conducted in-house. Underwriting is performed by Apex’s specialist team for each asset class — medical and actuarial analysis for life settlements and healthcare, cash-flow analysis for MCA, and operational due diligence for real estate.
How are life settlement portfolios managed?
Following acquisition, Apex’s operations team manages all ongoing premium obligations for each policy, monitors policy status directly with the carrier, conducts periodic life expectancy re-reviews, and coordinates maturity events. Portfolio performance is tracked against the acquisition underwriting on an ongoing basis. Investors receive regular reporting covering portfolio composition, performance against underwriting assumptions, and any material changes to individual holdings.
What is Apex's approach to portfolio risk management?
Apex applies consistent risk management standards across all four strategies. For life settlements, this includes concentration limits by carrier, face amount, and insured age cohort, as well as ongoing life expectancy monitoring. For MCA, concentration is managed across industry, advance size, and geographic region, with daily repayment monitoring providing real-time performance data. For real estate and healthcare receivables, asset-level underwriting includes explicit downside scenarios and recovery assumptions. All strategies are managed to defined return thresholds, not to relative benchmarks.
